Fr. Tom Makes Final Profession and Three Brothers Take New Vows

Three Novices Make First Profession of Vows

On July 14, 2009, Br. Joseph Thermadom OP Miss., Br. Eric Kumana OP Miss., and Br. Alexis Marie Secondaire OP Miss. made their First Profession of Vows. They each vowed for three years. In their vows, they promise obedience to God, the Virgin Mary, Saint Dominic, and to Fr. Tom as the Prior General of the community. The ceremony was at our parish, San Francesco di Paola, and was followed by a reception at the Dominican Missionaries' house. Thank you to the many friends and family who were able to join us and who continue to support us.

First Vows is a required first step to becoming a priest within our community. A person cannot make final vows right away. He must make First Profession for three years, then he has the option to renew his vows with a temporary profession, make final profession, or leave the community.

Please continue to pray for these young men as they continue their discernment.

Fr. Tom Coughlin OP Miss. Makes Final Profession to the Community

At the same time Brothers Joseph, Eric, and Alex made their profession, Fr. thomas Coughlin OP Miss. made his final profession. His vows were similar to the others in that he promised obedience to God, the Virgin Mary, Saint Dominic, and to his own successors.
