11/2/08: 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Hello-

Today, we remember those who have passed away and are no longer with us. We ask God to bring them into Heaven. Some of us have had friends and family members pass away this year. In a special way, we pray for them. We pray for God's grace on all of us who have lost our friends and our family members this year.

But let us think of this another way. Fr. Tom mentioned in his homily today about other cultures. He talked about a burial place where a mother and child were holding hands. He talked about Native Americans, who would carve out a cave for their loved one. He talked about the Egyptians and a few others. The point is this: We have emotions, therefore we feel sad when our loved one dies. This is normal.

I do not have a challenge for you this week. I encourage you all to remember all those who have died. Especially remember our soldiers and those who will pass away today and this week.
