Hello to All!!
Happy Pentecost! Pentecost Sunday marks the end of the Easter Season. We now restart Ordinary Time. Ordinary here does not mean regular, normal, or boring. Ordinary refers to counting. We are counting the weeks until our next celebration, much like a child (and some adults) count the days until their birthday. Let us keep that in mind as we continue in this season.
Also, Happy Feast of the Holy Trinity! Goodness, I am so far behind...
Announcements:
- On June 14, 2009, three novices (Brothers Joseph Thermadom, Eric Kumana, and Alexis Marie Secondaire) of the Dominican Missionaries for the Deaf Apostolate will make their first profession of Vows. This is a big step for them and a very joyous occasion for all of us. Please come for this very special day. There will be light refreshments at the Dominican Missionaries Home after Mass. Directions will be provided after Mass.
- We are always open to people who would like to be involved in some kind of ministry. Right now, we need more people in choir, as altar servers, Eucharistic Ministers, and Readers. If you are afraid of having to commit too much time, the ministry as an altar server or Eucharistic Minister requires only a few hours of training one time. We need these ministers. Please see Br. Adam (or reply to this email) if you want to be involved in any of these ministries.
- On June 28th, we will have a combined mass with the Italian community. The other days during the summer, we will continue to have our normal 11:30 am Mass.
- We had an Advisory Board Meeting after Mass last Sunday. Here are the results of it:
- For the Summer, the mass schedule will be just a little different. We will continue to have our 11:30 am Deaf Mass! The only exception will be on June 28th. We will have a combined mass at 10:00am.
- This spring, we want to have a retreat in the spring. This will be a family oriented retreat for people of all ages. Kids will have a care provider while the adults have a retreat. This will be at a cabin or a retreat center with another Deaf priest. It will be offered in Sign Language. We will announce more information when we have it.
- In 2011, we will celebrate our 25th anniversary at San Francesco Di Paola. We discussed having a lunch/dinner to thank the members of SFDP. During the meeting, we discussed having the celebration at a restaurant.
- Deaf Awareness Week is coming up soon. DAWS will be on Nov 14th. We will sell hamburgers, Rice Crispy Treats, and possibly Hot Chocolate. We will need volunteers for that day. We have also decided to ask for donations of food. If you are interested in donating food or money, please see Br. Adam or reply to this email.
We are always open to more suggestions. If you have any other concerns about our church, our ministry, or anything else, please let us know. Thank you!
This is a short email, because I want to make sure to get it out. All the brothers have been very busy getting ready for their vows. Next week, I will have pictures and perhaps even some video of the vows.
God Bless you all. Have a good week!
Br. Adam Zawadzki OP Miss.
